The Sacrament of Confirmation is the fullness of initiation into the Catholic Church. For anyone Year 9+. The Confirmation course is due to start in the new year, so please ensure you have filled in a form (available at the back of the church) and return it to the Parish Office as soon as possible.
Dear Fr Christopher
On behalf of all the family of Fr John Formby and Jean Willett, thank you so much to you, to Jean and to all within the Parish of St Margaret's who hosted and organised the Reception of Mortal Remains, the evening Mass and then the Requiem Mass last Wednesday and Thursday.
We realise that a huge amount of organisation and work went into making both days the wonderful, fitting and comforting occasions that they were.
On Monday, 30th November we had further sad news that Fr John Formby’s sister Jean Marion Willett had died on that day in Oxford. Our prayers are with her children: Caroline, Frances, Joanna, Tom and Madeline. Jean’s Requiem will be here at St Margarets.
Fr John’s & Jean’s mortal remains will come into our church on Wednesday 16 December at 5.00pm followed by Mass. Their Requiem Mass will be on Thursday 17 December at 12 noon.
The family have requested: No flowers please, for either Fr John or Jean Willett, but donations, if desired, to www.valehouse.org.uk.
We were very sad to receive the news on Wednesday 25th November 2015 of the death of Canon John Formby.
Canon John was parish priest of St Margarets from September 2001 to February 2008. His mortal remains will come into our church on Wednesday 16 December at 5.00pm and the Requiem Mass will be on Thursday 17 December at 12 noon.
Please share your memories of Canon John in the forum http://www.stmargarets-church.co.uk/forums/general-discussion/memories-canon-john-formby.
We take this opportunity to thank Jimmy Green, Ann Edes, Terry Gannon, Janet Mason, Orlagh Culliton and Justin Ryan for all they have done over these past years as members of the Finance Committee. It is very much appreciated.
We now welcome our new members David Moroney, Claudine Richardson, Paul Murray, Eustace Furtado, Paula Lambert, Fr. Christopher and Fr Bernard Boylan. We wish them every success.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Catechetical Co-ordinator to work with the parish priest and pastoral team with particular responsibility for developing, supporting and co-ordinating catechetical and sacramental programmes and courses to facilitate growth in the spiritual and catechetical life of the parish.
For a full job description and application form please see http://rcdow.org.uk/diocese/jobs/parish-catechetical-co-ordinator-1/
Visitors to the site are once again up. We had a new record in May of 1,766 visitors and are now averaging at a little over 1,500 a month.
Unfortunately, there's still very few users submitting their content and so the website is not as 'alive' as it could be. There have been many searches on the site for groups which exist in the parish, but unfortunately the information for the groups has not yet been added. It is very simple to add content and help is at hand if you need it (contact firstname.lastname@example.org).
It is with much sadness that we have to inform you that Rebecca our Catechist, will be leaving us in August to take up a post as a Teacher’s Assistant.
We thank her for all that she has done throughout her time here and wish her every happiness in the future.
"I would like to wish all our Parishioners a very happy and safe holiday and look forward to seeing you all again in September."
