  • I find Judith's ideas below interesting. However, personally I feel the Makumbi Mission Children’s Home would be a good choice for our support. Firstly, I like the way the children are brought up in family units. I feel sure this will help them in the future when they come to start families of their own.
Secondly, as £300 is stated as the amount needed to cover a child's needs for a year, it is easy to imagine the difference our fund raising efforts would be making. Thus encouraging people to go the extra mile.

  • I welcome Maria's reaction - I'm already having more ideas myself- specially about level of need in the Philippines and looking forward to the presentations this weekend. But I can wish more people were sharing their thoughts as I really value the potential we have now with Andrew's website.I look forward to the Lenten Project "pulling us" together in the fund-raising events. Is it that the Forum is still a wee bit complicated for many people?

  • First reactions-the freshness of the
pictures and the DVDs bringing us close to individuals -helping raise one's vision beyond the turmoil of the world's financial state!Currently perhaps it's difficult times to be able to achieve something measurably changing for some small community, quite in the way we have managed in the past-with our positive tradition of encouraging and inspiring each other to sacrifices and effort over Lent and making a sizable difference somewhere. But
workers with the missionary congregations(such as Faithful Companions of Jesus
and Jesuits) seem to be telling us how much basic running costs are getting, making it hard simply to keep their important work going. However initially, I admit looking most favourably on Street Children as they are so specially vulnerable.
