St Margaret of Scotland - September 2018-July 2019

It has been another busy year of activity.

May I thank all those parishioners who gave so freely of their time to help organise both regular and individual liturgical, catechetical, social, outreach and maintenance events here in the Parish. The long list below is a testament to all your hard work for which I am, and am sure on every-one else’s behalf very grateful. May I wish you a very restful summer.

The Parish regular events include the following:
Altar Servers
Music Groups
Mustard Seed
Wednesday Prayer Group
Soup Lunch
SPUC Meetings
Youth Club

London Borough of Hounslow - Referral Order Panel Members

Hounslow Borough are looking for new panel members to help support first time offenders, between the ages of 10 and 17, so that they do not descend into potential further offending. This involves meeting once or twice a month for about three hours, mainly in the evening, with the young person, his/her family and professionals. These meetings are to establish the contract between the young person and community and to review progress on a regular basis. Training is provided by the Borough.

Lenten Project 2019

The total money raised from the Lenten project this year was £11,200. Our two chosen chartiies - CAFOD in Venezuela (Overseas Charity) and Otakar Kraus Music Trust (Local Charity) - have each received a cheque for £5,600.

This is due to be supplemented from Gift Aid tax when this has been reclaimed.

The events which raised the monies were:

Project 2019 Update

The long-awaited appeal has now been launched in the Parish, and may I thank those who attended the briefing sessions. I am very pleased to say that we have made some headway already with regard to reaching our total of £100,000.

Fr Patrick Fitzgerald MAfr RIP

Fr Fitzgerald (Fr Fitz) known to many older parishioners died in a nursing home on Wednesday morning, 26th June, after a long illness. His funeral will take place in the USA. The White Fathers intend to hold a memorial Mass for him at some point and there will be a Memorial Mass for him here at St Margarets after the summer holidays:

Details to be given later.

Pastoral Council Meeting

Last week the Pastoral Council held an open meeting and about 20 parishioners attended. The aim was to give short reports of the five different areas of Parish Life; Catechetics, Liturgy, Parish Life (Love your Parish), Pastoral Outreach and Care of the Property. This was a very helpful exercise as it gives a chance to hear of the many activities that take place here in the Parish over the course of a year. A reasonably full list of activities will be given in a forthcoming edition of ‘The Page’.
